WOW!!  We did it!  We made it through a very successful school year!  Thank you to everyone for your commitment to your child’s education and for your patience as we tackled everything another COVID-impacted year brought our way!  I'm so appreciative of you all for your partnership and trust.  Thank you for an incredible year in Room 211! In addition to our academics and focus on IEP goals, the last few weeks of school have been, and will continue to be,...

A message from the Challenger PTA Due to the increase of COVID cases across the district and the recommendation not to hold large gatherings, we are postponing this year's PTA Bingo event. This unpredictable weather does not permit an outdoor event and out of an abundance of caution we're pushing the fun to Fall 2022. Thank you to all the families that signed up for this great event.  We look forward to hosting the event for you in early October 2022 -- we'll start the...

Hello, Room 211 Families! How is it already the middle of May?!  This has been a unique year that everyone has made the best of together!  Thank you for continuing to communicate with program staff about your child’s health status, attendance, and early pick up times, etc.  This is so helpful in planning for our day ahead. Here are the latest updates and reminders: We are continuing to explore Creepy Crawlers.  We have been sending some of our work home and more leveled...

Welcome to May – where our Flower Shop is open for business and bugs are all around! Students are starting to learn about insects including butterflies, ants, and bees!  We’ll be matching and sorting colors, finding their homes (hive, hill, etc.) and counting groups of bugs.  We will continue all month long exploring new vocabulary, singing songs and getting our hands dirty. In Motor Language Group, we made butterflies!  They’re on display in our classroom but will be finding their way to...

Happy Spring, everyone! Good news - the Yummy Café has repeat customers!  Although we are currently serving dinner, we had been making sandwiches of all varieties, depending what’s on the pretend menu for the day.  Some friends like pickle sandwiches and some like tomato and cheese!  Everyone was offered a chance to practice spreading jelly or cream cheese on a bagel or to make a sandwich with lunchmeat (all food preferences shared at the beginning of the year were 100% honored). ...

Hello! I wanted to share a brief update on what we are learning in class as we wrap up the second trimester of the school year: Literacy:  We are continuing to work on reading early level readers to build vocabulary around fruits, vegetables and other healthy snack items.  We’ve sequenced the steps to making a sandwich and have continued to label items with full sentences.  Last week we made waffles - check out the latest set of pictures on the photos page! ...

How is it already March and nearing the end of the second trimester?! Unfortunately, our classroom Post Office shut down…but not to worry because the Yummy Café is now open and currently serving breakfast!  This month we will be learning all about fruits and vegetables, healthy snacks and even how to make a sandwich!  We are going to be incorporating our reading lessons and math content while we create menus, order enough food for everyone, set the table and serve our...

Room 211 has been busy! We’ve been mailing friendly letters in our Post Office, experimenting with sensory materials such as vinegar and baking soda, and making friendship trees for our classroom display.  We are well into the second half of the school year and just over a week away from our second winter break.  I am looking forward to sharing your child’s growth with you as Trimester 2 progress reports go out in the middle of next month! Reading:  Within our new...

Updates for Room 211: Valentine’s Day will be celebrated with “Friendship Parties” in your child’s general education class on Friday, February 11th.  Please look for more information directly from your grade level teacher (Mrs. Cho or Mrs. Parson). Literacy:  We wrapped up our Winter theme by reading Winter Fun and exploring winter items such as scarves, boots, and hats!  Hopefully each child’s snowflake made it home intact.  As we dive into our next theme, Let’s Make Music, we will continue to build...
