Shelter-in-Place Drill

Today, your student practiced a Shelter-in-Place drill at school. The purpose of this drill is to secure staff, students, and visitors into the school building to minimize their exposure to a potential threat outside of the classroom such as a weather event, chemical contamination or terrorist attack. The plan, when implemented, serves to minimize the risk of injury or death to students, staff, faculty and any visitors who are on campus at the time of the threat. During a Shelter-in-Place event, students stay in the school building, but continue to learn in their classrooms or specialist’s classrooms until the threat is lifted.
