WATCH D.O.G.S. Info Night

Calling all dads, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures! We need YOU for our Challenger WATCH D.O.G.S. program!

What is WATCH D.O.G.S.?

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative. We invite fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at least one day at their child’s/student’s school during the school year. The program is overseen by Linda Ogden, our Dean of Students, and a volunteer team who coordinate scheduling and identify opportunities for Watch D.O.G.S. to assist at the school. Watch D.O.G.S. dads and volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including assisting at arrival and dismissal, monitoring the lunchroom, playing at recess, or helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.

What are the goals of this program?

  •  To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
  •  To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. How do you sign up?
  • If you are not an approved volunteer, please follow this LINK to begin your volunteer application including a background check.
  • Attend the kickoff event, Dads and Kids Pizza Night, on Tuesday, October 3 at 6:00pm in the Challenger MPR to learn more about this program.
