Hello Room 211 Families! The 2023-2024 school year is off to a great start!  We have spent every day practicing classroom routines in order to set us up for continued success this year.  During our transitions throughout the building, we walk with eyes watching, ears listening, voices quiet, and bodies calm.  We have been complimented on our line by others who see us in the hallway! Our literacy instruction is underway.  We are primarily focusing on phonological awareness skills through the use...

Dear Challenger Families-  Today, your student practiced a lockdown drill at school. The purpose of a lockdown is to secure staff, students, and visitors into the nearest secured classroom to minimize their exposure to a potential threat.  The lockdown plan, when implemented, serves to minimize the risk of injury or death to students, staff, faculty and any visitors who are on campus at the time of the threat. During a lockdown, students stay in their locked classroom with a staff member, remain silent and sit in a secure area...

We are so proud of your children for taking these drills seriously and practicing in their classrooms. By practicing often, children will develop muscle memory for what to do in the event of an emergency.  If this had been a...

By practicing often, children will develop muscle memory for what to do in the event of an emergency.  If this had been a real emergency...

By law, all ISD schools are required to practice at least one drill per month. By practicing these drills on a regular basis, students and staff develop “muscle memory” in how to react in the event of a real emergency. Practicing drills can elicit some strong responses from some of our learners-especially our youngest learners or those with...
