Updates & Reminders

Hello!

Here’s a quick update on our Social Emotional Learning and Motor Language Groups:

SEL:  We have been practicing expected behaviors within the first unit of Second Step with “Eyes Watching, Ears Listening, Voice Quiet, and Body Calm.”  These are important behaviors that we practice daily when in our classroom and walking in the hallways.  We work on following directions so everyone can learn and we practice repeating directions to help us remember what is being asked.  As we jump into the second unit, we will be working on our empathy skills where we identify feelings and practice demonstrating caring and helpful behaviors.

MLG:  The last couple of weeks the groups have focused on the story The Mitten written by Jan Brett.  Students had the opportunity to practice retelling and sequence the story with a sensory activity where targeted vocabulary included “go in.”  In a small tub of soapy water, students placed animal picture cards into a mitten where the animals found warmth and shelter from the cold!  Up next, Ms. Joy and Ms. Burd have a Valentine surprise for everyone!

Upcoming (NO SCHOOL) Dates:
