October Updates

Hello Room 211 Families!

I want to start out by making sure every family is receiving their child’s general education teacher’s newsletter and classroom communications.  We try not to double up on info/papers going home – the first source should be your child’s grade level teacher.  Please let me know if you are not receiving emails from her!

We have been very busy at school!  We transitioned from Back to School to all things Fall!  Our themed, weekly leveled readers are being sent home on Fridays for extra practice.  In class, we are continually working on letter names and letter sounds, and finding letters and words within the text.  We talk about the pictures and notice things that are the same and different.  Please read and reread these short books with your child.  Repetition is key!

In math, we have been working on number formation and counting out sets to match numerals.  At home, practice counting sets at the dinner table…how many chairs, plates, cups, forks, etc.?  Math is all around us.  It’s great to model and reinforce the learning that is happening at school within the home environment.

Thank you for filling out your communication notebook each morning.  You may have noticed I added a Zones of Regulation page to your child’s notebook.  The page highlights some emotions within each zone color.  I wanted to make sure we all knew which emotions were being targeted at school.

Hope you’re having a restful weekend,

Jaime
