The Latest…

Hello, families!

I wanted to give a quick update on things happening in Room 307.

We are continuing to progress through our reading and language curricula. Generally speaking, our pacing has increased as we have all (staff and students) adjusted to the format and task expectations. The lessons are formatted in such a way that new skills are introduced, worked on briefly and then circled back to many times throughout the numerous exercises within each guided lesson. This has been especially beneficial for many students and I’m really starting to see an increase in participation!

In math, we are continuing to reinforce vocabulary specific to our learning targets. Our most recent addition is the math word “set.” We are grouping objects by sets, based on varying attributes – color, shape, size, etc. This has been very hands on and has seeped into other parts of our day. For example, just this week, we made a class “set” of tambourines (incorporating our Let’s Make Music theme)…which should have found their way home today.

Just a reminder that progress reports will be sent out this month. Please check your child’s backpack for their report on Wednesday, March 18th. If you’d prefer an electronic copy instead, please let me know ahead of time.

Things to keep in mind:

1. Please continue to be diligent with keeping sick children home from school. Thank you in advance!

2. In response to the latest precautions taken by the ISD, Popcorn Friday is cancelled tomorrow at Challenger. Please send in snacks as popcorn will not be provided by the school per usual.

3. Continue to reach out with updates, questions/concerns and successes!

Stay healthy,
