13 Feb Celebrating Friendships and More!
Hello, Room 307 Families!
February is flying by and mid-winter break is just around the corner…but first, Valentine’s Day! Each general education class will be having friendship celebrations tomorrow that we will be joining. It should be a great day for a little extra fun with our friends.
Our program has recently adopted Reading Mastery as our core reading curriculum. We have been getting our feet wet over the last few weeks and are well on our way to learning the new routines and systems involved with this change. Every student has been assessed and placed at an appropriate level of instruction where they will be exposed to beginning reading and language skills. I will be sending home periodic updates, so please continue to check your child’s red folder if it is sent home. If you have questions, please send them my way.
Our upcoming theme in the classroom is centered around making music! Music, whether playing an instrument or just enjoying the sounds, has both educational and psychological benefits. Music fosters teamwork, develops creative thinking, and helps students become more active listeners. As always, students will be working on their collaborative skills with peers through group activities and lessons that target specific vocabulary and hands-on experiences. We plan on identifying various instruments and creating our own beats, too. This is sure to be a crowd-pleaser as we have many friends in class who enjoy singing, dancing and listening to music!
I hope you all have an enjoyable mid-winter break. I will see everyone back in the classroom on Monday, February 24th!
Thanks so much,
