It’s November!

Welcome to a new month! We are off to a great start shifting gears from Halloween and pumpkins to Fall leaves and turkeys. Check your child’s red folder for a Halloween art project and a Fall All Around Me book (if they didn’t make their way home earlier this week). We’ve been reading and singing songs to learn different color words – particularly focused on red, yellow, orange and brown. First graders enjoyed their first field trip of the year yesterday. They visited the Washington Park Arboretum UW Botanic Gardens. They had great weather and a beautiful tour! It was a perfect opportunity to see all the fall colors we’ve been learning about in class.

Today, there was a Veteran’s Day assembly recognizing those who have served our country, past and present. Prior to the assembly, Kindergarten students made paper poppies with their 5th grade buddies and presented them to Veterans who were in attendance this morning. Very touching gesture, for sure.

Second graders have another Nature Vision lesson next week with Ms. Wincentsen’s class. They will be participating in a hands-on activity learning about watershed ecosystems. Looking forward to that!

As a reminder – there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day. We will see everyone back in the classroom on Tuesday! Also, mark your calendars for an upcoming family night at Challenger. On Friday, November 15th, our wonderful PTA will be hosting BINGO Night from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Everyone is invited to join the fun!

Take care,
Jaime
