Halloween is Around the Corner!

There’s a lot going on in Room 307!

We are continuing our countdown to Halloween…less than a week away! As a reminder, it is a spirit day at school and everyone is invited to dress as their favorite storybook character on Thursday, October 31st. Dressing up is optional. Can’t wait to see who shows up to class on Thursday!

As a class, we have had fun reading Go Away Big Green Monster! Most think the story is silly and not too scary. Mrs. Holbrook’s class has joined us on occasion to draw our own monsters as well as sequence the story together. Bunches of beautiful fall leaves have been added to our sensory table along with some festive black spiders! Today, Ms. Wincentsen’s second grade class popped into our classroom kitchen and roasted pumpkin seed with us. We also made hand-print Frankenstein faces and snacked on the pumpkin seeds with them just before school ended. You will find a small pumpkin in backpacks, too! Original face designs were made by all students. Too cute!

Please remember to send your child in weather appropriate shoes/clothing and with a rain jacket every day. Recess is rain or shine (unless there is thunder or lightning). Along that same note, please send in a new set of extra clothes to match the season – long pants, long sleeve shirts, etc.

Unfortunately, the Kindergarten pumpkin patch field trip needed to be rescheduled due to flooding at the farm. Hopefully Monday brings a better outcome for all. Fingers are crossed! Please continue to check the events section of our website for upcoming dates and/or any changes made to the calendar.

Finally, the online conference scheduler is up. Please sign up with your child’s general education teacher and I will do my best to attend as well. Looking forward to chatting about each student’s success with their general education teacher and peers.

As always, please continue to be in touch with any concerns, questions or celebrations!

Have a great weekend,
Jaime
