27 Aug Welcome to Room 307!
Hello, Room 307 Families!
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! It has been a very busy summer, as many of you can probably relate. I hope everyone found time to rest and recharge a bit. We are so close to the start of our school year. Are you ready? Nervous? Excited? I am all of the above and more! I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us as a classroom – it’s going to be a great year together!
Here is some information to get us started on the right foot:
Meet the Teacher – You are all invited to an open house on Tuesday, September 3rd, from 10:00am-11:00am. Since we have all met, this is a great time to get reacquainted with each other, see the classroom and the school again. Everyone is encouraged to stop by, say hi and then head to your child’s General Education teacher’s classroom. They are all excited to meet you as well. We have a fantastic team of teachers working with our program, so please plan to pop in and introduce yourself!
Our schedule –
Arrival: I will meet the buses in the front of Challenger at 9:10am every morning. We will enter the building by 9:15am. If you arrive after 9:15am, you will need to check in at the front office. I will then get a phone call that your child has arrived, and a paraprofessional will then walk with your child from the office to our classroom.
Dismissal: Our class will load thebuses in the afternoon at 3:35pm every day except for Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, we are dismissed at 1:25pm
Lunch: Our lunch and lunch recess are from 11:45am – 12:30pm. Please let me know in advance if your child will be buying a school lunch this year. The menu is posted on the District’s website.
General Education: TBD
PE – M & Th (2:30pm-3:00pm) with Mr. Moken
MUSIC – T & F (2:30pm-3:00pm) with Mr. Proudfoot
LIBRARY – W (12:30pm-1:00pm) with Mrs. McDowell
Transportation – Please let me know your child’s transportation planbefore the first day of school. Bus rider? Parent pick up? Combo of the two? First day? First week? All year?
Snack – We will have two snacks at school. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each child’s snack is provided by the family. Please also send your child with a water bottle daily. I am not aware of any allergies in class, however, if I am mistaken, please correct me and I will make sure everyone is updated accordingly.
Extra clothes – I’d like to keep an extra full set of clothes (top, bottom, underwear and socks) at school. Please be mindful of the current weather/season. There will be occasional reminders about this throughout the school year.
Supplies: There isn’t a specific list of supplies needed for the year in LRC-II, however, I will reach out when we are in need of frequently used items such as glue sticks and markers. Please know we are always in need of disinfecting wipes and Ziplock bags (sandwich, 1-gallon and 2-gallon), please!
I will have additional information next week, but I just wanted to touch on the basics for now. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns and successes you want to share from the summer! I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. I’m looking forward to seeing all the children again and getting our classroom up and running!
